چکیده

Introduction of the packet switching technique into digitized voice communication may affCJrd great advantages in efficient use of the channel, compared to both circuit-switched and DSI systems. Detailed characteristics, however, have not been obtained because of difficulty in the exact analysis. Hence, simulation models are developed in this paper for the pack!'t ized voice transmission system, and various characteristics such as transmission delays and loss probability of voice packets are obtained. We further evaluate three types of voice packet reassembly strategy at t he receiving terminal, and obtain the optimal packet length, which keeps each of overall packet transmission delay :llld packet loss probability less than a certain permissible values. Comparison among three strategies is also stated.

A Markov Modulated Characterization of Packetized Voice and Data Traffic and Related Statistical Multiplexer Performance

We study the performance of a statistical multiplexer whose inputs consist of a superposition of packetized voice sources and data. The performance analysis predicts voice packet delay distributions, which usually have a stringent requirement, as well as data packet delay distributions. The superposition is approximated by a correlated Markov modulated Poisson process (MMPP), which is chosen su...

Using Context-based Statistical Models to Promote the Quality of Voice Conversion Systems

This article aims to examine methods of optimizing GMM-based voice conversion systems performance in which GMM method is introduced as the basic method for improvement of voice conversion systems performance. In the current methods, due to using a single conversion function to convert all speech units and subsequent spectral smoothing arising from statistical averaging, we will observe quality ...

Development of simulation model for performance evaluation of feed water system in a typical thermal power plant

The present paper deals with development of a simulation model for the performance evaluation of feed water system of a thermal power plant using Markov Birth-Death process and probabilistic approach. In present paper, the feed water system consists of four subsystems. After drawing transition diagram for feed water system, differential equations are developed and then solved recursively using ...

Superposition of Interrupted Poisson Processes and Its Application to Packetized Voice Multiplexers

This paper analyzes a model of a statistical multiplexer for packetized voice. The packet arrival stream from a single voice source is approximated by an interrupted Poisson process (IPP). The multiplexer is modeled by a single-server queue with general service time distribution, whose input is superposition of independent and identical IPPs. The steady-state probabilities of this queueing syst...

CBR Packetized Voice Transmission in IEEE802.11 Networks

The IEEE802.11 standard for wireless local area networks allows the coexistence of asynchronous and time-bounded transmissions using the DCF and PCF modes of operation. In this paper, we present the integration of packetized voice and data traffic over an IEEE802.11 BSS network and we analyze its performance in terms of maximum number of supported conversations and minimum bandwidth available f...
